We came, we raced, we ‘Beasted’ it.
CurraNZ was out in force at the Tarawera Ultramarathon last month, with ambassadors and customers coming together to create an impressive Purple Army of ‘Running Beasts’ - and bossing it at New Zealand’s premier ultra-running event in Rotorua.
CurraNZ athletes and fans Ruth Croft, Caitlin Fielder and Dan Jones laid down serious early-season markers with dominating wins in the 50km and 100km events and earned UTMB qualification for 2025.
In the 50km women’s race, we were delighted to cheer home two ambassadors who took out first and third (Caitlin Fielder (NZ) and Robyn Lesh (USA)).
Our Kiwi Backyard Ultra ‘King’ Sam Harvey secured a scintillating second-place finish in the ‘Miler’ as a warm-up to securing a new world record in the Backyard format event in 2024. Sam is one to watch as he seeks to break new ground on the international endurance running scene.
Our 30-strong Purple Army of customers and ambassadors threw themselves into the 21km, 50km, 100km and 100-mile races and donned the ‘Mark of the Beast’ (our wildly popular temporary tattoos).
Incredibly, of the 4,500 athletes who raced, five CurraNZ athletes podiumed in the 50km, 100km and 100mile events, nine secured top-20 finishes, with many age-group placings too.
Congrats to Anthony Kerr-Taylor (eighth) and Anna O’Byrne, (fifth female) in the Miler, against stiff elite and international competition.
Vicki Fleming powered to second in her age-group (55-59) despite taking a heavy tumble in the 50km and Andy Taylor had a great run in the Miler, finishing first in his age-group and 20th overall (50-54yrs).
We were thrilled to be back for our second year and see first hand how many runners have heard of us – and are loving the CurraNZ products. It was fantastic to see our little brand becoming a prominent feature in the nutrition landscape of ultra running.
